This chart illustrates alternate trumpet fingerings, solely based on the brass overtone series. You may need these in fast passages or to help you play in tune. The color coding illustrates that even though it is an alternate based on the overtone series, when you combine overtone pitch tendencies with valve combination pitch tendencies (discussed on the standard fingering page), notes can either become more in tune, or so out of tune they are not viable options. Once you become a more experienced performer, try some of these in your practice, with a tuner, to see what a difference the fingerings can make. |
